A Maserati sports car was filmed engulfed flames while parked on double yellow lines in east London.

The footage was taken around 6am yesterday morning and shows the car model alight in the Isle of Dogs, with Canary Wharf visible in the distance.

Bought new, Maseratis can go for over £100,000 – though this was a 2014 model.

A local resident filmed the footage as firefighters rushed to the scene.

The London fire brigade said: ‘Two fire engines and around ten firefighters were mobilised to a car alight on Roffey Street in Isle of Dogs.

‘The brigade was called at 5.57am and the fire was under control by 6.12am.

‘The cause of the fire is under investigation.’

No injuries were reported.

The Metro has contact the Metropolitan Police for comment.

Last October a £190,000 McLaren Artura supercar burst into flames while a customer took it out for a test drive in Stourton, Leeds.

Video footage show the scorched wreckage of the manufacturer’s first electric car, which was recalled in the US earlier in the year over a fire risk.
