Bus fare cap will RISE to £3, Keir Starmer says after MPs slammed ‘betrayal of working people’

BUS fares will rise to £3 as Sir Keir Starmer has confirmed the current £2 cap will scrapped in the Budget.

There had been been speculation the £2 bus fare cap, which had been in place since January last year and was due to expire in December, would not be extended.

And this morning, the PM confirmed such a move during a pre-Budget speech.

He told reporters: “The Tories only funded it until the end of 2024.

“That is the end of the funding in relation to the cap.

“I do know how much this matters, particularly in rural communities where there’s heavy reliance on buses, and that’s why I’m able to say to you this morning that in the Budget we will announce there will be a £3 cap.”
