GARDENA — A 19-year-old driver killed over the weekend when his vehicle rolled into the center median of a Gardena roadway was identified Monday.
The crash was reported about 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2900 block of Rosecrans Avenue east of Crenshaw Boulevard, according to Jose Zamudio of the Gardena Police Department.
Nazim Abdellali, a Lawndale resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the county Department of Medical Examiner and Gardena police.
“As officers were conducting their investigation, the driver of a separate involved vehicle returned to the scene,” Zamudio said. “As a result of leaving the scene, the driver of the second vehicle was arrested by GPD officers.”
Police didn’t immediately provide details on the alleged involvement of the second vehicle.
The crash remained under investigation, he said.
Anyone with information was asked to call Zamudio at 310-217-6189.
