At least 191 flights were canceled and 137 delayed at Denver International Airport on Friday as heavy snow pelted metro Denver and Colorado’s eastern plains.
The average delay time for arriving flights was less than 15 minutes, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. A traffic management program was in effect “due to weather/snow-ice,” and FAA officials said this could delay some arriving flights and that departing flight schedules may be affected.
There were 328 total delayed and canceled flights at DIA as of 9:30 a.m., according to Flight Aware. SkyWest reported the most cancellations with 154, followed by Frontier with 30. SkyWest had 61 delays, followed by United with 32.
On Thursday, 1,068 flights at DIA were delayed and on Wednesday 1,092 were delayed, Flight Aware data show.
“We are in full deicing operation and one of six runways is closed for treatment and cleaning,” DIA spokesman Michael Konopasek said. “Crews can clean a runway in 17 minutes.”
