Hot Frosty is Netflix’s latest Christmas rom-com that’s wowing viewers and critics and has a better Rotten Tomatoes score than Gladiator 2.
Starring Lacey Chabert, 42, (Mean Girls) and Dustin Milligan, 39, (Schitt’s Creek), the movie follows a widow who falls in love with a snowman – yes that is the real plot.
Fortunately, the snowman has turned into a man for the festive season – and a hunky one at that.
The synopsis reads: ‘A kind-hearted widow takes care of everyone but herself. When a dashing snowman comes to life, he helps her rebuild her home – and her heart.’
The film launched on the streaming platform on November 13 and had a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes before dropping down to a perfectly respectable 89%.
Hot Frosty has also topped the streaming charts in the UK since its release, currently ranked the second most-watched film on the platform after sci-fi thriller Megan.
The success of this romantic film has stunned and delighted viewers and has surpassed the ratings of Gladiator, the original Russell Crowe movie from 2000 that received just an 80% score from Rotten Tomatoes.
The film has also surpassed Gladiator 2 starring Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal has a 75% rating in comparison.
In stark contrast, the internet has been alight with positivity about the Netflix snowman romance.

Lacey revealed in a recent interview that the set was filled with laughter and fun, which she thinks is clear to see in the film.
‘Craig Robinson, Joe Lo Truglio, Lauren Holly, Katy Mixon — everybody’s just so, so funny, and we had such a blast on set,’ she told People. ‘It was just a really joyful environment.’
‘That joy that’s created on set when you’re entertaining each other, I really think that is infectious and comes through the screen,’ she said.
‘I think the whole movie has a really fun undertone to it. These characters are in on the joke in a way themselves, and they’re not taking it too seriously.’
