Bears RB D’Andre Swift out of practice with groin injury, but not major concern as of now

Bears running back D’Andre Swift will not practice Wednesday because of a strained groin muscle he suffered in the loss to the Packers. Coach Matt Eberflus described holding him out as giving the injury “another day to rest,” indicating there isn’t a major concern about Swift’s availability for the home game against the Vikings on Sunday.

“We’re hopeful,” Eberflus said when asked if that was the case.

Swift is the Bears’ most productive offensive player this season with 878 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns. He has 635 yards rushing at 4.1 per carry.

He ran for 71 yards on 14 carries against the Packers, including a 39-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to give the Bears a 19-14 lead. They went on to lose 20-19 when Cairo Santos’ last-second field goal was blocked.

After Swift, Roschon Johnson has 137 yards rushing and five touchdowns. The Bears also have third-string running back Travis Homer, who plays predominantly on special teams.
