After 16 days, 134 attempts, multiple near misses and, mercifully, no shattered windows, Bryson DeChambeau has completed his astonishing hole-in-one challenge.

Taking advantage of the off-season, the American golfer has captivated the world of golf and social media at large by attempting one of sport’s most difficult feats, but with an added twist.

The world No.10 is no stranger to going viral after he broke 50 playing a round alongside Donal Trump earlier this year and was even mentioned in the incoming US president’s victory speech earlier this month having been billed as a ‘super genius’.

On this occasion, however, the glory is all DeChambeau’s after his 14th attempt of day 16 pitched over the rockery at the rear of his glass windowed, $2,000,000 Texas home, landed within a foot of the hole before it span towards its intended target and dropped, almost apologetically into the cup.

Confirmation of an ace came via DeChambeau’s trusty spotter who, for the last fortnight, has been stationed on the roof of his house, tasked with the job of informing the two-time US Open winner where each ball had landed in relation to the hole.

Each day, Dechambeau has afforded himself an extra shot to complete a challenge that mere mortals would not dare attempt given the likely cost in window repairs.

The 31-year-old has entertained millions with his histrionics, tantrums and good humour over the course of the last 16 days, so it was little wonder he embarked on a crazed victory lap after he finally got the job done last night.

‘Are you kidding me?’ he screamed after victory had been accomplished before he ran around his house, arms outstretched and sunk to his knees to kiss the ball.

Combined, Dechambeau’s daily video updates have attracted over 80 million views,so it was little surprise to see the outpouring of gratitude and congratulations that came his way in the midst of a sporting triumph for the ages.

‘Congrats, Champ. What a ride!,’ one wrote on X.

‘Holy s*** that was epic Bryson!!! Nice shot,’ another said.

And a third said, ‘A lot quicker than I thought.’
