Former Monte Vista High and Cal tight end Jack Endries is transferring to Texas, according to reports from ESPN’s Pete Thamel and others.
Endries graduated from Monte Vista in 2022 after a stellar prep career that included a first-team All-Bay Area News Group honor for the 2021 season. He then walked on at Cal despite holding double-digit scholarship offers and was the Bears’ leading receiver in 2024.
Endries took a visit to Texas’ campus and made his commitment on Friday. He will be a redshirt junior this fall.
In 2023, Endries was a freshman All-American after catching 35 passes for 408 yards. In 2024, he was an all-ACC honorable mention, snagging 56 balls and gaining 623 yards through the air.
Endries will now join coach Steve Sarkisian’s dynamic offense with the Longhorns, leaving Cal fans with a wistful sense of what could have been. The Bears have lost five of their top seven receivers to the transfer portal in addition to Endries.
It hasn’t stopped there. Starting quarterback Fernando Mendoza transferred to Indiana, star running back Jadyn Ott left for Oklahoma and leading rusher Jaivian Thomas, a graduate of McClymonds High in Oakland, entered the portal earlier this week.
