WWE legend Rey Mysterio suffered what appeared to be a heartbreaking injury with just one day to go until WrestleMania 41.
The 50-year-old Hall of Famer, who underwent knee surgery in late 2023 but has appeared better than ever over the last year or so, may have been rocked with a major setback.
During SmackDown in Las Vegas, Mysterio was teaming with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix against American Made trio Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers.
However, he was unable to finish the bout, with medical professionals seen tending to him at ringside with his teammates pushing on without him.
Off camera, the masked icon was seen being helped to the back, unable to put a lot of weight on his leg.
There is currently no update regarding his scheduled WrestleMania bout with El Grande Americano.

Fans have been left praying for Mysterio, with some wondering if the bout will go ahead.
‘Damn prayers to Rey Mysterio I hope he’s ok,’ wrote @rob1201oakes on X.
‘Praying for the legend Rey Mysterio, but man this doesn’t look good,’ added @Slappa_WWE.
And @popjagaimo said: ‘This is so heartbreaking. Rey vs Americano was one of the matches I was looking forward to most. Praying for King Mysterio 🙏’

It’s not clear if Mysterio will have to be replaced, but if that were the case, there is a ready made replacement in Fenix.
A change to the match would be a headache for WWE, particularly after Kevin Owens was forced out of action due to a serious neck injury.
He was due to face future Randy Orton at WrestleMania, but their scheduled clash has been scrapped, with the Viper now needing another opponent for the Show of Shows.
The identity of his foe is yet be revealed, with WWE opting to let Orton lay down an open challenge at Allegiant Stadium.
There are several options, with SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis among them, along with a potentially returning star like Rusev.

‘The reality is: For the last four months or so, I’ve been dealing with a pretty serious neck injury,’ Owens told the fans earlier this month.
‘We didn’t know what it was, we didn’t really know how serious it was. Thankfully this week, we managed to figure it out, and now I have to go get neck surgery.
‘So that’s what I’m going to do, and the timing couldn’t be worse, ’cause let me tell you, not getting to be in the ring with Randy Orton at WrestleMania really sucks.’
WWE WrestleMania airs live on Netflix on April 19 and 20 at midnight.
