ANAHEIM — The Angels’ bats woke up just in time.
After managing just one run and three hits for the first eight innings, the Angels rallied for a dramatic 5-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon.
The Angels had not scored more than three runs in more than a week, and then they scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth
The big inning began with Mike Trout drawing a walk against Ryan Walker. Jorge Soler then singled into center.
After Nolan Schanuel struck out, Logan O’Hoppe singled to load the bases. Zach Neto, who earlier in the game hit a homer, was then hit by a pitch, forcing in a run.
Jo Adell then yanked a double down the left field line, and Neto scored all the way from first, with a head-first slide at the plate.
With their first walk-off victory of the season, the Angels (11-10) took the series against the Giants.
It was the first time this season that the Angels have won a game started by left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, who gave up one unearned run in 5⅓ innings.
More to come on this story.
