Abandoning Kyiv to a bloody fate at the hands of tyrant Putin would seriously diminish America’s standing

Trump’s folly

FOR all his threats and ultimatums, Donald Trump surely understands the consequences of the US walking away from Ukraine.

Abandoning Kyiv to a bloody fate at the hands of tyrant Putin would seriously diminish America’s standing as the key defender of global freedom.

Despite his threats and ultimatums, Donald Trump surely knows that walking away from Ukraine would seriously weaken America’s global standing[/caption]

It could also be as politically damaging as Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The President would never allow Russia to seize Alaska.

So why does he expect Ukrainians to give up huge swathes of land that they have lost tens of thousands of lives bravely defending?

Including Crimea which allows Russia to maintain an iron grip on the region.

And all without any promise of a US security guarantee or NATO protection?

It’s an impossible ask.

Meanwhile, where is the pressure on Putin, the aggressor in this war, who has broken ceasefires with missile terror attacks on civilians

The US peace plan has to give Ukrainians a chance to accept.

Currently, it sends an unthinkable message to rogue dictators.

That America allows murderous invaders to win.

Dread Ed

EVERY time Ed Miliband opens his mouth to tell us how we can save the Earth we wonder what planet he is on.

Yesterday, Miliband warned Britain must improve its energy security by investing billions more in already heavily subsidised green tech.

Ludicrously, he admitted electricity prices in America were four times cheaper than in the UK because the US drills so much gas

But he didn’t seem to realise that if we drilled our OWN, then Britain might not have the highest energy costs in the world.

And prices that are crippling business and snuffing out economic growth while he hands cash to China for wind farms

The mystery is not that Red Ed believes this guff.

It’s that the Prime Minister tolerates it.

Lost the plod

THERE can now be no doubt: the police have lost control of our streets.

Shoplifting offences are up by a fifth in a year to a staggering 516,971 amid a 54 per cent increase in robbery of businesses and a 20 percent increase in snatch thefts.

Overall crime has risen 14 per cent while the cops are nowhere to be seen.

There are only two solutions.

The harshest possible jail sentences for serial thieves.

And for police to get off social media and back out defending our High Streets.
