U.S. marshals this week arrested a man who had been wanted by Lakewood police for more than a year after he was allegedly involved in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy.
Philix Baca, 20, has been wanted for first-degree murder since April 2024, when police say he and others were involved in the killing of the boy, whom family members later identified as Francisco “Cisco” Laqui.
Lakewood police on Wednesday learned that Baca was possibly hiding in the Colorado Springs area, according to a U.S. Marshals Service news release.
Later that day, a task force including marshals and other local and federal police agencies tracked Baca to a home in northeast Colorado Springs, where he was arrested.
Baca’s next court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
