Carey Hart Is Recovering After Serious Injury & Competitive About Healing

Carey Hart wants to get back to work as soon as possible, despite having recently been hospitalised and severing his small intestine from his colon. The former freestyle motocross competitor updated fans on his health and uploaded a short video on Instagram. 

In the video posted on May 19, he tells the camera he is “sweating it out, getting rid of the poisons” on his first day of recovery. The camera first focuses on Hart, who looks in surprisingly good health, and then on his picturesque surroundings as he takes his dog for a walk. In his caption, he shared more about healing and why he already wanted to work on the process.

Hart discussed what was happening in his professional life and with his health in the caption. “Let’s do this,” he began. “Day 1. Don’t worry, I won’t post to much of this …. I’m on the mend and moving forward. Goal is to be back on my @indianmotorcycle (not mx bike) for our @goodride on June 7th. See how it goes. I like to turn injury recovery into a challenge or competition to stay motivated. Have a great week, everyone.”

The Good Ride he refers to is a motorcycle charity ride he founded.

Hart is dedicated to his career and enjoys a faster pace of life than most, but fans have urged him to take is slow as he heals from a serious injury. “Glad to see you’re walking and being gentle in your recovery,” one fan commented.. “Hope you have a speedy recovery. In the meantime, enjoy life at a slower pace than you are used to! Take it easy!” another fan shared.

Carey Hart Has a Competitive Spirit

On May 17, Hart updated fans on the injury that left him hospitalised. “I had a pretty nasty get off, practicing Thursday morning,” he wrote in the caption of a post on Instagram. “Landed off a jump, bars knifed, and took the bar to the gut while going over the bars.” However, Hart’s most recent Instagram video caption about turning “injury recovery into a challenge” highlights how hard-working and inspiring he is. It also spotlights his competitive personality trait, which he shares with his wife, Pink.

“Marriage isn’t easy, and it’s always coming back to the table,” he told Us Weekly in an interview on December 19, 2024. He also discussed how they are both “highly competitive at anything,” adding, “Everything is a competition, especially with me. We are highly, highly competitive people.”
