‘Multiple people’ including a police officer have been injured after a stabbing in the Netherlands.

Emergency services were called to a group home for people with intellectual disabilities at around 6am local time.

Politie Eenheid Noord-Holland said in a statement: ‘There are multiple victims, including a colleague. Multiple ambulances and the Mobile Medical Teams (MMT) are on site.’

At least one person is said to be in a very serious condition in hospital.

Police said they received a report of a stabbing at the group home, called Fanny Blankers-Koenlaan, located in Hoofddorp in northern Holland.

Local media say the injured police officer was taken to hospital, and a police car was left ‘smeared with blood’.

A large cordon has been put in place while police investigate at the scene, blocking the street.

Several ambulances and police vehicles were pictured on the road outside the group home.

Black screens have been put up around the home, and forensics officers are investigating at the scene.
