Meghan Markle is reflecting back on the past seven years. And she says not everything looks the way she thought it would.. especially motherhood.
Meghan and husband Prince Harry just celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary and to mark the occassion, the Duchess of Sussex shared some family photos on her Instagram account.
In the post that shows a bulletin board covered in photos, Meghan wrote, “Seven years of marriage.
A lifetime of stories.
Thanks to all of you (whether by our side, or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story – we appreciate you.
Happy anniversary! â¤ï¸”
Her brand “As Ever” also celebrated the milestone on Instagram with a black and white picture of the couple, writing, “Sometimes two is better than one.
Wishing a very happy anniversary to our founder @meghan and her husband Prince Harry.”
The post also features a picture of two palm trees at the couple’s Montecito, California home. In the past, Meghan has said were a major draw to them when they were looking for a house. “One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees. See how theyâre connected at the bottom? He goes, “‘My love, itâs us,’ ” she told The Cut in 2022.
But on her latest podcast, the Duchess admitted that not everything about the past seven years looks exactly as she expected.
Meghan Markle Admits Motherhood Is Not the Way She Envisioned
On the May 20 episode of Meghan Markle’s “Confessions of a Female Founder” podcast, Meghan talked to Cassandra Morales Thurswell, founder of the viral beauty brand Kitsch.
In the podcast, Meghan talked about her expectations versus the reality of the past seven years. Especially in regard to motherhood.
Meghan and Harry welcomed son Archie in 2019. One year later, the couple left the royal family and moved to California. Meghan gave birth to daughter Lilbet in 2021.
And Meghan admits, becoming a mother looked very different from what she had envisioned. âI will say, for myself, especially when they are baby babies and before I was a mom, I’ve always wanted to be a mom,â Meghan said. âI was like, âOh gosh I’m going to give a speech with a baby on my hip,â I had a whole vision.â
âGranted, I had a lot of external things happening by the time I had both pregnancies and both babies,â Meghan went on to say. âBut it was not the way I envisioned it.â
Meghan Markle Wants Her Kids to See Her Working
Meghan has been open about the challenges of juggling motherhood along with her Netflix show âWith Love, Meghan,â her product line âAs Everâ and her podcast âConfessions of a Female Founder.â
Still, in the podcast, she says that mix is crucial. âFor me, itâs so important my kids see me as a working mom,â Meghan told Cassandra.
In an interview at the Time100 Summit, Meghan admitted the last 18 months have been busy and at times chaotic, she wouldnât change a thing.
âIâm the happiest Iâve ever been,â she told Time CEO Jessica Sibley. âAnd that part, to have a partner and a husband whoâs just so supportive⦠and to have healthy kids that are so joyful in the freeness of their life and the safety of their life that we create for them⦠of all the things that have happened in my life, I never would have imagined getting here at this point that I would feel just so happy and grateful, and I really do.â
