It seems like HBOâs âHarry Potterâ reboot might just have a touch of the original magic⦠if they play their cards right. Warwick Davis, best known to fans as the sharp-tongued Professor Filius Flitwick, has officially said heâd be totally down to appear in the new Max series. Yep, the man behind the charms master himself is raising his wand and saying, âPick me, HBO!â
In an recent interview, Davis didnât mince words. When asked if heâd want to be part of the upcoming adaptation, his answer was clear: “It would be lovely to return to that magical place,” per Parade. Thatâs about as straightforward as it gets; and who wouldnât want Davis back in the Wizarding World?
Davis Brings Legacy-Level Acting
Letâs be real. Warwick Davis isnât just âthat guy who played Flitwick.â Heâs a legend in genre cinema, having starred in things like âWillow,â âStar Wars,â and âLabyrinth.â His connection to the âHarry Potterâ franchise runs deep, too. In addition to Professor Flitwick, he portrayed Griphook the goblin and appeared in nearly every film in the series. So if the reboot is looking for a veteran with range, charisma, and serious fan cred? He checks every box.
Plus, Davis has made it clear he respects what the reboot is trying to do. “I love the Harry Potter stories [and] the whole concept of what Harry Potter stands for,” he said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “So to see a new retelling of that story can only be a good thing.”Â
So, he understands that the series is getting a fresh cast, but he’s still enthusiastic about lending his magic if there’s a place for him. And having even one original cast member pop up in a meaningful role could be the perfect bridge between the old films and the new era.
HBOâs Harry Potter Reboot Is Still Developing
The rebooted series is aiming to dive deeper into J.K. Rowlingâs original books, with a new cast, updated visuals, and a season-per-book approach. While some fans are still cautiously optimistic (or just plain nervous), Davisâ willingness to return brings a spark of familiarity; and maybe even a bit of hope that other supporting stars could follow suit.
So, will HBO make the call? Sadly, our crystal balls aren’t working today, so who knows what will happen. But if they want to keep the magic alive, Warwick Davis is already waiting by the Floo Network.
