Clint Eastwood Is Just Getting Started at 95: ‘Do Something New or Stay Home’

Clint Eastwood continues to challenge the norms of aging in Hollywood. Even at the age of 95! The legendary actor has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of retiring anytime soon. I mean, can we expect anything else from the main man himself? Despite his age and seeing several actors deciding to take a step back from the big screen, he plans to work as long as his body allows him to.

In a recent interview with Austrian newspaper Kurier, he expressed his commitment to innovation when it comes to filmmaking. “My philosophy is: do something new or stay at home,” he stated. He emphasized his disdain for the current trend. Especially remakes and franchises in the industry that seem to be more common nowadays.

Eastwood believes that age shouldn’t hinder creativity or a person of any kind, for that matter. He noted, “There’s no reason why a man can’t get better with age. And I have much more experience today.” He acknowledges that while some directors may lose their touch over time due to creative issues, he doesn’t consider himself among them. Oh no, Eastwood has more power in him than we give him credit for; he’s only been doing this since 1954.

Reflecting on his career, Eastwood went on to reminisce about the golden age of Hollywood. He stated, “I long for the good old days when screenwriters wrote movies like “Casablanca” in small bungalows on the studio lot. When everyone had a new idea.”

He expressed concern over the industry’s current reliance on sequels and remakes, saying, “We live in an era of remakes and franchises. I’ve shot sequels three times, but I haven’t been interested in that for a long while.”

Commitment to Originality and Continuous Learning

Eastwood’s dedication to his craft is evident in his approach to learning. Of course, this despite him trying to use the old Hollywood method. He stated, “I’ll work as long as I can still learn something, or until I’m truly senile.” Talk about a man who knows what he wants! He went on to highlight his belief in continuous growth and adaptation in cinema.

Despite his age, Eastwood remains physically active and mentally sharp. He reportedly has several plans for future projects, some of which are already in motion. Could it be that we might see his son, Scott Eastwood, in any of these special projects?

His recent film, “Juror #2,” released last year, showcases his ongoing commitment to storytelling and filmmaking. The film, released on HBO, starred Toni Collette, Zoey Deutch, Nicholas Hoult, and Gabriel Basso, to name a few.

Eastwood’s enduring presence in the film industry serves as an inspiration. It truly demonstrates that passion and willingness to embrace new challenges can, at times, defy the constraints of age.

We can’t wait to see your next project, Eastwood!
