‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’ Star Dies at 44 – Tributes Pour In

“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Khadiyah “KD” Lewis passed away at the age of 44.

Her brother Jamaal “Jay” Lewis shared the news Thursday, June 5 in a statement with The Shade Room.

“This has been an extremely emotionally devastating time,” her brother said. “All prayers, condolences, and well wishes are sincerely appreciated.”

He added the family “have decided to not discuss anything surrounding her death or why she passed away.”

Lewis’ obituary said she was born March 31, 1981, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and died on May 30. She has two brothers and two sisters.

She attended North Springs High School in Atlanta and went on to earn a degree from Florida A&M University. She worked as a business and tax consultant.

The former reality TV star will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. on June 14 in her hometown.


Lewis’ Brother Wrote a Heartfelt Facebook Post

Lewis’ younger brother Elijah Inegbedion took to Facebook to write a heartfelt post about the loss of his sister.

“Been at a lost for words for some days now,” he began. “And to think that I’ll ever have the words to describe the person you’ve been and the legacy that you left behind would be erroneous.”

“Long Live my sister Khadiyah Lewis,” he added. “You left behind a legacy most individuals can only dream of. Thank you for loving me the way you did and always having my back no matter what.”

Inegbedion continued, “God blessed me when he made me your baby brother and for that I am eternally thankful. You are forever on my mind and in my heart. I love you!”


Tributes Pour In

Lewis starred on season 3 and season 4 of the popular reality TV show. She originally appeared as rapper Yung Joc’s real estate agent and personal assistant. The next season she became his girlfriend.

Fans took to social media to express their sadness over the news.

“I went to North springs high school with Khadiyah! I still remember meeting her on my first day of school… she was such a kind, sweet and caring person! Not just to me but literally everyone !! RIP” one user wrote.

Another added, “Her living room scene with Karlie redd was iconic. Rip ❤️.”

“Oh wow, RIP GIRL WE GOT MEMORIES OF YOU!” another user wrote. “I was just watching you on the reruns the other day!”

“Wowser! So sad and unfortunate but prayers and sincere condolences to her family & friends at this difficult time. God Bless, Peace & Comfort in the days ahead,” another wrote.
