Sheriff’s deputies discovered two dead bodies in an Adams County home after they shot and killed a man wielding a knife Friday morning, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Lofton Court and Kokai Circle in unincorporated Sherrelwood in response to a 911 call at about 5:11 a.m., the office wrote in a social media post.
There, they found the man armed with a knife. Deputies tried to disarm the man but ultimately shot him. The man, who will be identified by the Office of the Coroner of Adams and Broomfield Counties, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
While sweeping the home where the 911 call originated, the deputies found two adults dead. They will also be identified by the coroner’s office.
Deputies said the incident was under investigation and the scene was still being processed as of 7:22 a.m.
The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
