Myles Garrett Breaks Silence on Browns QB Situation Amid Shedeur Sanders Questions

The Cleveland Browns quarterback situation is among the most interesting around the NFL to follow throughout the remainder of the offseason. If the Browns want to be a competent team during the 2025 season, they might decide to go with a veteran like Joe Flacco. If they want to do what’s better for their long-term future, starting somebody like Shedeur Sanders could make sense.

But there are still many questions about the Browns during the offseason, and the quarterback situation is at the top of the list. On top of that, Myles Garrett, who requested a trade, was eventually paid.

Myles Garrett Talks Browns’ QB Situation

Garrett said that the Cleveland Browns are closer than some think, but there are still questions about whether he believes his comments or not.

When speaking to reporters about the situation, Garrett had some promising things to say about the Browns’ quarterback room. He didn’t call out Sanders or any other name in particular, but his comments sound better than some fans or the media might think things have gone.

“All of them look pretty calm,” Garrett said, per the Akron Beacon Journal, “just going through their checks, going through their calls, making the plays they need to make, not doing too much right now and they’ll have time to continue to display their talents and it’s just one day at a time. Continue to earn the trust of your coaches and your teammates and I think they’ll be able to open up the game.”

Shedeur Sanders Continues to Impress

The hottest name in the Cleveland Browns quarterback room is certainly Sanders. Whether it be due to his father being one of the greatest NFL players ever, falling in the draft, or many other reasons, Sanders looks to be the potential long-term answer at the position if he can figure things out.

When speaking about the quarterback room, including many of his other comments, Sanders has said all the right things.

“It’s real fun having those guys in the room, though, because we all, or quarterbacks, we all feel similar ways, but nobody always talks about it,” Sanders said after the first day of minicamp on June 10.

“So Joe’s the old guy in the room. So I joke with Joe all the time every day I see him. And Kenny, he had his experiences throughout his career overall, so then we just share a lot of the same things. And Dillon, of course, we’re the same age group. Those guys are older, so me and Dillon we’re the same age group. So we just talk about our experiences just in college and everything so far.”

Can Dillon Gabriel Edge Shedeur Sanders

For the long term, on the Cleveland Browns roster, if there’s one player who could potentially beat out Sanders, it’s recent third-round pick Dillon Gabriel out of Oregon. Gabriel proved himself to be an above-average player during his time at Oregon, but he now needs to prove it in the NFL.

Similar to Sanders and Garrett, however, he’s been impressed with what the Browns have done in their quarterback room, a promising sign as Cleveland looks to turn things around.

“I think just a diverse room,” Gabriel said. “Diversity in experience and you just appreciate those guys. I think what we’ve done as a room really well is the inability to dwell on the past. We’re just extremely present.”
