When Does ‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Air on Max?

Max has several popular shows on its platform, but “The Pitt” stands as one of its biggest hits. Set in a hospital, the show distinguishes itself from other medical dramas due to its distinctive format. Notably, the entire season show encompasses a 15-hour shift, with each episode representing an hour of it. 

Due to the popularity of “The Pitt,” many are wondering about its second season, which was greenlit in February 2025. Now, according to Deadline, the second installment of the hit show is in production. The outlet also confirmed that the series will return in January of 2026. 

Season 1 of “The Pitt” also began airing alongside other Max shows in January of 2025. It ended its run on April 10th. It is expected that the series will retain its 15-episode format, featuring a realistic depiction of what emergency room employees endure from both patients and the complexities of the medical industry. 

Fans Can Expect New Characters As Well As Returners

“The Pitt” stars Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch. Naturally, he’s surrounded by an ensemble cast of doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals. They include Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, and several other actors.

Like many other Max shows in their second season, “The Pitt” season two will enhance its cast. Deadline recently reported that there will be four new faces. The first is Charles Baker, who fans know from “Breaking Bad” and “The Blacklist.”  Irene Choi, who is from “Insatiable” and “Truth Be Told,” is also joining the cast.

Additionally, Laëtitia Hollard (“Trauma, Or Monsters All”) and Lucas Iverson (Shakespeare Theatre Co.’s Frankenstein) will also be on season two of the series. 

Regarding the premise, the show will take place over the Fourth of July weekend. Like many holidays, this one is notorious for the high volume of emergency room visits. 

The Show Brings In Viewers and Has Strong Reviews

Nowadays, it can be difficult for shows to break through and gain an audience. This is the case because viewers have numerous options across various streaming platforms. However, Variety reported in April that “The Pitt” was averaging 10 million viewers per episode. This is huge and shows why Max wasted no time in ensuring there wasn’t too long of a wait for the second season. 

“The Pitt” currently holds a “fresh” 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is expected to be a massive awards contender due to its strong ratings and viewership.
