Michael Weatherly knows how to make an announcement â and how to leave fans swooning in the process. The âNCISâ alum recently dropped a cheeky video on Instagram to reveal the premiere date of his upcoming spinoff, âNCIS: Tony & Ziva.â Co-starring longtime fan favorite Cote de Pablo, the new series officially arrives on Paramount+ this September.
Hereâs everything we know about the long-awaited reunion between Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, and why âTivaâ fans are counting down the days.
Michael Weatherlyâs Shirtless Premiere Date Drop
Forget press releases â Michael Weatherly opted for a more personal (and shirt-free) approach to announce the return of his beloved character, Tony DiNozzo. In a playful Instagram video, the 56-year-old actor grinned at the camera and said, âNo, there it is. No, I see it. It’s coming Sept. 4,â teasing the arrival of âNCIS: Tony & Zivaâ on Paramount+. His message? Equal parts ridiculous and irresistible.
In the caption, Weatherly added, âItâs like the fine wine people speak of⦠age must be appropriate, and timing, the decanting and ultimately the perfect setting.â Bravo, DiNozzo.
That same day, a more polished promo dropped on the Paramount+ Instagram account. In it, Weatherly and de Pablo shared a banter-filled âSave the Dateâ message that instantly reminded fans of their famous chemistry. âThatâs my line, you always take my line,â de Pablo joked, proving the duo hasnât lost a beat.
What to Expect From âNCIS: Tony & Zivaâ
Premiering with three episodes, âNCIS: Tony & Zivaâ will release new episodes weekly until its finale on October 23. The 10-episode season follows Tony and Ziva as they raise their daughter, Tali (played by Isla Gie), while running a security firm in Paris. But their peaceful life is shattered when the company is attacked, forcing the family into a dangerous game of survival across Europe.
The trailer teases high-stakes action, emotional reunions, and that classic âwill-they-wonât-theyâ tension that made Tiva a staple of the original series. âReturning to these roles together on screen after more than a decade has been an unforgettable journey packed with lies, spies, danger, desire⦠and self-driving murder cars,â Weatherly and de Pablo said in a joint statement, via Paramount+. âThis is one wild ride you wonât want to miss.â
Additional cast members include Lara Rossi as Sophie, the SAS-trained nanny protecting Tali; Amita Suman as Claudette, Tonyâs Chief Technical Officer; Maximilian Osinski as Boris, a Russian hacker; and James DâArcy as Henry, a top Interpol official.
According to the seriesâ official summary, âTony and Ziva must figure out whoâs targeting them â and maybe even learn to trust each other again.â
Could an ‘NCIS’ Crossover Be Coming?
âNCISâ executive producer Steven D. Binder told TV Insider in May 2025 that while a crossover between the original series and the spinoff isnât planned (yet), itâs definitely a possibility. âAll the pieces are in play for something like that to happen,â he said. He also confirmed he and Weatherly have had âmany conversationsâ over the years about keeping the Tony and Ziva storyline alive.
Until then, fans can revisit the franchiseâs past and look forward to its future when âNCIS: Tony & Zivaâ premieres on Paramount+ September 4.
