Bills Trade Proposal Has Them Acquire All-Pro Disgruntled Talent

The Buffalo Bills‘ broad focus over the offseason has been on defense – where the team spent each of its first five picks in Aprils’ draft, in addition to adding talent on all three layers.

And after quarterback, Josh Allen took home the MVP last February, there would be reason to believe everything is hunky dory on the offensive front in Buffalo: The team gave up the fewest sacks in 2024 and established a bona fide run game with James Cook and rookie, Ray Davis.

But the passing game is still an issue, despite the early-round additions of pass catchers, Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid, over the past few drafts.

And so it may well suit the Bills to target a true lead wide receiver for a unit that feels slightly rudderless and in need of true shape and direction in the form of a #1 target man.

Thus, the Bills could look to trade for Washington Commanders wideout, Terry McLaurin, who held out of mandatory minicamp last week.

Terry McLaurin Trade Could Be A Win-Win Option For Both Teams

Despite posting a receiving yards total very much in line with his historic career levels at 1,096, McLaurin feels like he had a bounce-back after posting 13 touchdowns in 17 regular season games, plus another 3 in the Commanders’ post-season outings in January – in addition to 227 yards.

Aged 29, and turning 30 years old in September, the Washington star is not getting any younger, and waiting to move off their WR1 could have severe implications for his trade value. Even with the benefit he brings to young QB, Jayden Daniels, the opportunity to trade their prized, albeit aged, asset when his stock is at its highest could be one too good for the Commanders to pass up.

But the Bills are firmly in win-now mode, and with no pass catcher having managed to break the 1000 yard threshold in 2024, Buffalo could look to another receiver to lead the pack in 2025.

McLaurin could certainly be that guy, and joining an offense also containing the likes of Khalil Shakir, Coleman and tight ends, Dawson Knox and Kincaid, the former Ohio State standout could lead him to have some of his most productive years ahead of him.

What Would It Cost To Bring McLaurin To Buffalo

Buffalo Bills get: Terry McLaurin

Washington Commanders get: 2026 second round pick, 2026 fourth round pick.

The Commanders will struggle to get a first round pick – even with a hypothetical trade occurring prior to the start of the regular season – in exchange for a player going into his age-30 season. But given McLaurin’s talents as a route runner, and the intelligence he brings to the game, it certainly would not be shocking to see Buffalo give up in excess of a second rounder.

Indeed, the Bills gave up a third rounder for a past-his-prime Amari Cooper during last season’s trade deadline from the Cleveland Browns.

Whilst that certainly did not pan out anywhere near as well as the organization would have liked, it did show a willingness to get aggressive at critical junctures at times when potentially elite, impactful players are the on market.

Commanders fans will absolutely not want to part with their best receiver for the best part of half a decade, but if an extension is still not forthcoming in Washington and a franchise makes a competitive offer, we could see McLaurin in a different situation at some point in 2025.
