Jenna Bush Hager’s Kids had an Unexpected Reaction to Their Mom’s New Haircut

Jenna Bush Hager got her hair cut live on “The Today Show,” and her three children were not pleased with her new look. 

Celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillian, creator of the iconic “Rachel” haircut, joined Bush Hager and “The White Lotus” star Leslie Bibb on Monday’s episode to give Bush Hager a sleek new bob.

Bush Hager was inspired by Bibb’s trendy chin-length chop, and McMillan was on hand to create the look for her live on air. He was still cutting her locks when the show wrapped, so Bush Hager debuted her fresh style on Tuesday’s show. 

Bibb joined Bush Hager as co-host and couldn’t stop complimenting her. “You look sexy and powerful and glamorous,” she said. But Bush Hager’s kids couldn’t have disagreed more. 

Bush Hager played a video she recorded of her children’s reactions and it was hilarious. Mila, 12, Poppy, 9, and Hal, 5, began screaming when they saw their mom, shouting “What are you doing?” and “I don’t like it,” before running off crying.

Why Bush Hager’s Kids Weren’t Loving the Look

After Bush Hager showed the video, Bibb joked, “Your children are monsters.” Bush Hager assured her that the kids’ tears were fake and explained, “That’s our love language.” 

Bush Hager went on to suggest a possible reason why her kids had such a strong reaction to her new cropped cut. She recalled her childhood growing up in the south where all the girls had long hair.

Bibb chimed in and agreed that long hair is so often equated with princesses and fairy tales. “And here’s the thing, guys. Fairy tales don’t exist,” Bibb declared. 

How Bush Hager’s Husband Reassured Her

Despite the fact that her three children were not fans of Bush Hager’s haircut, her husband, Henry Chase Hager, was super into it. “He was like, ‘damn, that’s hot,’” the host shared with Bibb. 

And to make matters even better, Bush Hager’s husband shut down one of their daughter’s insults too. “She was like, ‘you don’t look good,’ and he was like, ‘she don’t know fashion,’” Bush Hager shared. “This is why he’s such a good husband,” Bibb exclaimed. 

Bush Hager went on to thank Bibb for cheering her on and inspiring her new look. “I felt lighter,” the host revealed, even though she also admitted to being a bit embarrassed by all the attention her new look was receiving.
