A rooftop fire at a vacant, one-story, 200-foot by 300-foot Panorama City building was knocked down Thursday by Los Angeles firefighters.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded at 3:49 a.m. to 7801 Van Nuys Blvd. at Cabrito Road, where they found flames coming through the roof at the empty commercial structure that is in its demolition stage, said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. Firefighters shut down ladder pipe operations and were transitioning into the overhaul stage using hand lines, Stewart added.
The building is across Van Nuys Boulevard from Living Spaces and The Plant.
It took 88 firefighters 42 minutes to extinguish the fire.
