Christina Ricci recently opened up about the partying phase she went through as a teenager and into her early 20s. “I was like a feral creature,” she confessed during the June 18 episode of “Andy Cohen Live” on SiriusXM.

The “Yellowjackets” star who rose to fame as a child actor revealed that she began partying very hard when she was just 16 years old. “There was a period of six years, [from] 16 to 21, when I was a bit of a party animal,” Ricci explained.

But the upside of indulging her wild side as a teenager was that by her early 20s Ricci was kind of over it. “…that’s not really bad — to be in your house binge-watching television by the time you’re 21, with dogs,” the actor shared.

There are many stars who are known for their carefree partying, thanks to endless tabloid coverage. But Ricci, now 45, was able to sidestep getting a wild child reputation in the press, even though she had no problem keeping up with her peers.

According to the “Wednesday” actor, she had some good people working with her who were able to do damage control. Ricci explained that she “had a really wonderful publicist” who “kept me pretty much out of a lot of tabloids.”

Well, mostly. “I mean, I was in a lot, but kept me out of the bulk and the most damaging ones,” Ricci clarified.

The Lure of NYC Nightlife was Hard to Resist

Ricci made her film debut in 1990 at the age of 10 in “Mermaids” alongside Cher and Winona Ryder, and went on to appear in “The Addams Family,” “Casper,” “Now and Then” and many other projects. Due to Ricci’s early success, she and her mother moved from Montclair, New Jersey, to New York City in 1995.

At her old school in Montclair, Ricci had been bullied. “I was getting made fun of a little bit and singled out,” she revealed. But in Manhattan, she seemed to get only positive attention.

Ricci recalled living in the same building as glamorous supermodels Christie Brinkley, Cindy Crawford, and Linda Evangelista, which was a far cry from her New Jersey suburb. The actor began getting invites to industry parties which she happily attended.

These days Ricci is a mom of two. Her son Freddie, 10, she shares with her ex James Heerdegen, and her daughter Cleo, 3, she welcomed with husband Mark Hampton. And Ricci is no longer concerned with what people think of her.

“I think what I learned was that it doesn’t matter if I’m beautiful or not by anyone’s standards,” she shared with People.
