Jensen Ackles Shares Which of His Kids Are Allowed to Watch ‘Countdown’

Jensen Ackles has amassed quite an assortment of characters since his days as Eric Brady in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” While he’s best known for his 15-year stint as Dean Winchester on “Supernatural,” he’s also had roles in “Dawson’s Creek,” “Smallville,” “The Boys,” and has voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman in multiple animated films.

Along with this varied career, the actor is also known as the father of 12-year-old Justice Jay (also known as JJ) and the fraternal twins Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes, both aged 8. He dotes on his three kids with his wife, Danneel Ackles, and occasionally posts photos of the five of them.

One thing Ackles hasn’t been able to share with his kids is his work as an actor. But with his new show, “Countdown,” starting soon, he thinks it may finally be something he and JJ can watch together.

Jensen Ackles’ Oldest Daughter Just Started to Understand That He’s an Actor

While talking on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” he mentioned that JJ was starting to understand that he was an actor. “I think it’s recent,” he said. “I mean, she always knew that I went off and I did things that she wasn’t allowed to watch.”

Unfortunately, his roles have not been very kid-friendly. “[It’s] not age-appropriate, we’d like to say,” he admitted. “But now she’s creeped into that age to where I think she might be able to watch “Countdown.” I might have to watch it with her, but she’s excited about it.”

While talking recently about the new crime drama series, he also expressed excitement that he could finally share his work with JJ. “She hasn’t really gotten to see her dad in action,” he told People. “And in this one, I’ll be in action.”

Jensen Ackles Reunites With ‘Supernatural’ Cast for Final Season of ‘The Boys’

“Countdown” is set to premiere on Prime Video on June 25. Ackles is also gearing up for the fifth and last season of “The Boys.” Showrunner Eric Kripke, who created both, has been slowly reuniting the cast of “Supernatural” on “The Boys.”

While Season 3 brought on Ackles as “Soldier Boy, Season 4 introduced Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe Kessler. The upcoming season will add Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, as well.

“When he likes to work with somebody, he likes to continue working with them,” Ackles told Fallon about Kripke. “I was the benefactor of that, obviously. But then he thought, ‘Oh, what a great idea, let’s just bring the cast back together.” The final season of “The Boys” will debut on September 17 on Prime Video.
