“I haven’t done anything and I want to try and stay that way … but I also am like, do whatever works for you,” Barrymore said during a behind-the-scenes segment. “The only thing I do know is don’t judge other people because they do things differently.”

She went on to reflect on the importance of treating herself with more compassion as she grows older. “The more loving, embracing, less dismissive that we can be, the better it is for our mental game and spiritual game, which affects the face,” she explained.

Barrymore also delivered a powerful reminder about beauty standards and self-talk. “A smile is better than any lipstick you’ll buy, and internal dialog that isn’t so eviscerating of ourselves and so quick to catch a flaw — who says that’s the flaw, by the way, that might be someone else’s favorite thing about you…how ironic. It isn’t how you look, it’s how you feel.”

Barrymore has previously spoken about raising her two daughters and how she hopes to model healthy self-acceptance. She’s also been open about the influence of longtime friend and co-star Adam Sandler’s family on her children. In a separate interview with Mindy Kaling, she revealed that Sandler’s teenage daughters have “taken her girls under their wing,” calling it a “really good sign.”
