OAKLAND — An Adams Point burglary suspect was arrested Tuesday night after a standoff with police, authorities said.
According to initial police reports, the suspect, a 37-year-old man, first tried to break into a home in the 200 block of Adams Street about 10 p.m. Tuesday but was scared off by an alarm activation.
He then hopped a fence to a residence next door where, armed with a pocket knife, he was able to break into the home, according to the reports.
Those residents were able to flee as police swarmed into the area and set up a perimeter.
Police were able to establish contact with the man, who refused to come outside.
About 11:20 p.m. police forced entry into the home and arrested the man and also recovered the the knife, according to the initial reports.
The man was booked at Santa Rita jail on suspicion of burglary and attempted burglary and was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
