<p id=”par-1_55″>Some of the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/notable-people/”>most famous people</a> in the world are gathering in Italy for the <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/celebrity-relationships/?swcfpc=1″>wedding</a> of one of the richest men in the world. Celebrities have been flocking to Venice for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez‘s wedding, but the Amazon founder’s pal <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/prince-william/?swcfpc=1″>Prince William</a> likely isn’t attending and that’s a good thing for the future king.</p>
<p id=”par-2_52″>Bezos is one of the founding funders of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, but it’s unknown if the royal was invited to the billionaire’s wedding. If he had been though and decided to attend, the Prince of Wales would have drawn a lot of criticism as Bezos himself is now under fire. </p>

<p id=”par-4_72″>More than 200 guests have or will be touching down in the Italian city ahead of the nuptials including Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble, Kim Kardashian, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner, Leonardo DiCaprio, Diane von Fürstenberg, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Eva Longoria, Katy Perry, and Orlando Bloom. However, following reports that Bloom and Perry split, the <em>Pirates of the Caribbean</em> star will be attending solo. </p>
<p id=”par-5_58″>The festivities kicked off on June 24, ahead of Bezos and Sanchez’s June 28 wedding, which was supposed to be held at Scuola Grande della Misericordia, a medieval former religious school in Cannaregio. There was a <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/jeff-bezos-lauren-sanchezs-wedding-invitations-stir-outrage-publicist-ashamed.html/?swcfpc=1″>last-minute venue change</a> made following protests and security concerns, and the reception will now reportedly be held at the Venetian Arsenal. </p>
<p id=”par-6_23″>That venue is located in eastern Castello district, which is surrounded by water and unreachable by land when the connecting bridges are raised.</p>

<p id=”par-7_64″>The reason Prince William’s presence would have been a disaster is because Greenpeace, a global environmental organization, has been protesting over environmental fears and overtourism. The organization deployed a giant banner in St. Mark’s Square telling Bezos: “If you can rent Venice for your wedding you can pay more tax” along with several signs around the canal city that read: “No Space for Bezos.”</p>
<p id=”par-8_100″>According to the <a href=”https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/world-news/prince-williams-billionaire-ally-jeff-35451059″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Scottish Daily Express</a>, some Italian publications have claimed that 96 private jets are expected to land in the city for the three-day event. The amount of Carbon Dioxide emissions per flight is the equivalent to around 286 cars driving for one day or a single car driving 8,900 miles. And that’s just for short flights up to 2 hours. Transatlantic flights, where most, if not all will be coming from, have even higher emissions. <a href=”https://www.unilad.com/celebrity/news/jeff-bezos-lauren-sanchez-venice-pollution-96-planes-co2-27300-cars-227806-20250624″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Unilad</a> has estimated that the environmental damage from the flights for all the guests is equivalent to around 27,300 cars driving in a single day.</p>
<p id=”par-9_24″>Four years ago, Bezos announced he was backing Prince William’s Earthshot Prize and supports that through his philanthropic organization, the Bezos Earth Fund. </p>
<p id=”par-10_38″>The prince has been <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/kate-middleton-mystery-missing-royal-event-explained-you-wont-see-prince-william-weeks.html/?swcfpc=1″>attending events</a> all week for London Climate Action Week such as the climate festival and the “Nature’s Guardians: On the Road to COP30 & Beyond.” So obviously William’s attendance would have looked terrible. </p>
