Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Saga Isn’t Over Yet: What to Know

You may have thought that, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie settling their divorce after eight years, their story was over. However, a statement from Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, seemed to suggest that the saga was far from over.

“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago,” Simon wrote. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

So what other parts could there be? It turns out, there’s still the matter of the winery the two shared. Court documents from June 20 allegedly reveal that the two actually have similar expectations for the length of the trial.

Both Pitt & Jolie Think The Trial Will Be More Than 14 Days

According to Us Weekly, court documents filed in the past week show Pitt and Jolie’s thoughts about their upcoming trial over their French winery, Château Miraval. Pitt disclosed that he believed the trial would last around 15 days. Jolie stated that she thinks it will take more than 14 days. The ‘F1″ star also said the lawsuit was “complex,” due to the various claims and foreign entities involved, such as the Stoli Group.

The lawsuit stems from Pitt’s claims that he and the “Girl, Interrupted” star had made a verbal agreement. Accordingly, neither of them was allowed to sell their share without the other’s consent. While he said that he knew she was talking to an interested buyer in 2021, he didn’t know who it was. He claimed that he told her she would need his approval before she sold her share.

Pitt sued Jolie in 2022 after she sold her shares of Château Miraval to a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, which Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler owns. In 2024, Jolie tried to get Pitt’s lawsuit dismissed, but the Los Angeles Superior Court denied her request. So now, a trial date needs to be set, which is expected to occur in 2026.

The Former Couple Had High Hopes for Château Miraval

Jolie and Pitt bought Château Miraval in 2008. Jolie was pregnant with twins Knox and Vivienne at the time. It was obviously a much happier time for the couple.

“Pitt and Jolie purchased the château as a home to share with their children and the vineyard as a family business,” court documents read (via People). “They agreed they would never sell their respective interests in Miraval without the other’s consent. The couple spent the holidays at Miraval with their children and were married there in 2014.”

Jolie, for her part, couldn’t escape the dark memories she associated with the place after they split. “Above all, it is the place we brought the twins home to, and where we were married over a plaque in my mother’s memory,” she wrote Pitt in a 2021 email (via ET). “A place…where I thought I would grow old…. But it is also the place that marks the beginning of the end of our family.”
