John Travolta has starred in several iconic movies throughout his illustrious career. However, many fans agree that their favorite of his is “Grease.” Recently, John Travolta appeared at a “Grease” themed sing-along, sporting a significant hair transformation. Naturally, the crowd went wild.
The beloved actor took to his Instagram on June 26th to show off the new do. He said, “Tonight at the Hollywood Bowl, for the first time, I surprised everyone at the GREASE Sing-A-Long and dressed up as Danny Zuko.”
John Travolta continued, “No one knew. Not even the cast. Thank you for a great evening.

The Original “Grease” Movie Is a Classic
“Grease,” starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, was released in the US in June 1978. According to IMDb, the film had a $6 million budget and became an instant box-office success. To date, it has generated around $400 million, representing a substantial return on the initial investment.Â
Due to the success, the film studio soon greenlit a sequel, “Grease 2.” However, the second film did not feature John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Reports say they held meetings to make cameos in the movie, but these plans were ultimately scrapped.Â
Sadly, “Grease 2” is generally regarded as a disappointing film. It earned back its production budget at the box office, but the movie didn’t make nearly as much as its predecessor. Additionally, critics thought it also fell short of the magic of the first version. Despite this, many fans consider “Grease 2” to be a cult classic film that was misunderstood.Â

There Is a Series Based on the Movie Without John Travolta
Many fans would like to see a new version of “Grease” and have John Travolta appear in some capacity. While this isn’t in the works, there is a series based on the movie. The show, “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” premiered on Paramount+ in 2023.Â
Although there was some fanfare for the “Grease” series, the streaming service canceled it after just one season. Still, “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” remains on the platform.Â
