The winner of the Rocket Classic golf tournament in 2025 will earn $1.728 million as part of a $9.6 million purse, according to the PGA Tour. The tournament is being played from June 26 to June 29 at the Detroit Golf Club in Michigan.
Sunday’s final round started with a loaded leaderboard with several golfers within reach of the lead. Aldrich Potgieter held the lead after three rounds at 19 under with Jake Knapp, Chris Kirk, Max Greyserman, Mark Hubbard and Andrew Putnam all two shots behind the 20-year-old South African at -17.
Potgieter talked to reporters after the third round about the differences between competing as an amateur and playing on the PGA Tour.
“It’s quite different as an ammie playing in a big event as well,” he said. “The leaderboard’s so stacked, so when you’re looking at amateur golf, a lot of guys are up there but there might be two or three guys within two or three shots, here there’s six or seven. The guys are just really good out here. So it’s going to play different tomorrow with that wind so we’ll have to go and do the best we can and hit the golf shot in front of us.”
Max Greyserman, who like Potgieter entered the final round of the Rocket Classic searching for his first career victory on the PGA Tour, told reporters after the third round, “You can finish second different ways, right? You could be ahead, lose the lead. You could finish second in a distant and have no chance. I think I’ve kind of done all those seconds and I had that experience. I have that experience going into tomorrow, so rely on that, knowing that I’m playing well, got a good team around me, so I’m excited for tomorrow.”
