Giants RB Delivers Powerful Four-Word Message on Sunday

The path to becoming a starting running back in the NFL was very unique for New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., who started his collegiate career playing wide receiver for the Iowa Hawkeyes before ultimately playing running back for the Purdue Boilermakers on his way to the professional ranks.

In a recent return to his hometown of Indianapolis, Tracy Jr. delivered a powerful message to the children in attendance at Friendship Mission Baptist Church on Sunday.

Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. Delivers Powerful Message to Kids

In a recent report from Deja Studdard of FOX 59 in Indianapolis, Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. took the time on Sunday to return home and speak with the youth in attendance at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church about how his spiritual faith helped to ask God for what he wants.

Tracy Jr. said, “When you are specific about what you want, God will make it happen—and you won’t have no choice but to give God the praise.”

Studdard mentioned how Tracy Jr.’s even prayed to God about wanting to play in the NFL, by writing, “He reflected on how he prayed to God that he would be drafted into the NFL, even in the face of obstacles such as transferring from the University of Iowa to Purdue, and changing positions on the field.”

Tracy Jr.’s message didn’t stop at speaking to God about what you want, but he also touched on sending yourself a powerful message on a daily basis.

Tracy Jr. added, “Speak life into yourself… I tell myself every day that I’m enough.”

Tyrone Tracy Jr. Outlook Entering 2025 NFL Season

Tyrone Tracy Jr.’s decision to switch positions late in his college career proved to be the right one with him bursting onto the NFL scene with 1,123 total yards and six total scores his rookie year.

Despite playing on one of the worst scoring offenses in the league, Tracy managed to deliver three 100-yard rushing performances while averaging 4.37 yards per carry over his 192 rushing attempts in 2024.

Tracy Jr.’s days as a receiver helped him haul in 38 receptions for 284 yards, which makes him a strong candidate to lead the Giants’ backfield in 2025.

The biggest detractor from his successful rookie campaign was ball security, where he fumbled five times — which was an average of one fumble every 46 touches.

Perhaps, Tracy’s ball security issues were one of the reasons the Giants jumped at the opportunity to select Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo near the top of the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which could create a nice one-two punch for the New York backfield.

Skattebo proved to be an excellent high-volume ball carrier during his final year in college with 293 carries for 1,711 rushing yards and 21 rushing scores in just 13 games played in 2024.

Devin Singletary is expected to factor into the backfield as well with his extended knowledge of Brian Daboll’s offensive scheme, but was noticeably phased out of the offense in favor of Tracy over the back half of the 2024 season.

Ultimately, Tracy should be a big part of the Giants’ backfield in 2025. He may lose some work to Skattebo, but no one should be surprised if he becomes one of the next star running backs in the NFL.
