“The Bear” has become one of the most acclaimed shows on television, blending culinary drama, emotional storytelling, and chaotic restaurant energy into a dish fans canât stop devouring. Season 4, which premiered June 25 on FX and Hulu, ended with a jaw-dropping cliffhangerâbut the show’s future is still uncertain.
Here’s everything we know about “The Bear” season 5, without spoiling season 4.
Season 5 of ‘The Bear’ Is Still Up in the Air
Created by Christopher Storer, “The Bear” follows Carmen âCarmyâ Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a gifted chef transforming his late brotherâs sandwich shop into a Michelin-star contender. Along for the ride are Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Marcus (Lionel Boyce), and Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas), forming a dysfunctional yet determined team.
So, whatâs next for Carmy and the crew?
As of now, FX has not officially renewed “The Bear” for a fifth season. In a July 2024 interview with Variety, FX chairman John Landgraf said, âWe really donât know.â
He added that the decision ultimately rests with creator Christopher Storer: âThese decisions are really creative decisions. Itâs about how much more story does [Storer] have to tell? I mean, obviously, Iâm hoping he has more… You just have to follow the creative.â
While fans are hopeful, the uncertainty is real. The showâs high emotional stakes and natural endpoint make a fifth season possibleâbut not guaranteed.
Cast Members Weigh Inâand Hollywood Comes Calling
The cast has been equally candid about the showâs uncertain future. In July 2024, Colón-Zayas told RadioTimes.com that sheâd love to see “The Bear” continue âfor at least another five years,â but admitted things felt âfragile.â
âThereâs that line Richie had in the beginning, like, âIt is a delicate ecosystem,ââ she said. âAnd I think that as long as that is inspired and nurtured, then weâll have the magic that we have.â
Meanwhile, Ebon Moss-Bachrach sounded more final in an interview with “The Telegraph,” saying, âI feel like weâre getting near to the end of “The Bear.” It seems like that story is wrapping up to me.â He added, â[Richie] is very dear to me.â
Adding pressure to the showâs future is the skyrocketing fame of its core cast. White is taking on Bruce Springsteen in “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” and will star in the upcoming “Star Wars” film “The Mandalorian and Grogu.”
Moss-Bachrach is stepping into the Marvel universe as The Thing in “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” with confirmed appearances in “Avengers: Doomsday” (2026) and “Avengers: Secret Wars” (2027).
Ayo Edebiri is also booked and busy, starring in two major films (“After the Hunt” and “Ella McCay”) and writing the upcoming “Barney the Dinosaur” movie. Sheâll also headline Apple TV+âs romantic comedy “Prodigies.”
For now, fans will have to savor season 4âand hope thereâs more of “The Bear” to come.
