The Buffalo Bills are doing everything they can to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1990s.
The team signed former Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa back in March, and now there could be a chance they try to add another veteran star to their roster.
One position where Buffalo did a nice job upgrading this offense was the signing of receivers Josh Palmer and Elijah Moore.
Palmer and Moore should be awesome targets for quarterback Josh Allen, but Buffalo should try to add another receiver to the team before Week 1.
There aren’t many great receiving free-agent options, and the best one on the open market right now is Amari Cooper, who played for Buffalo last season.
Cooper didn’t impress with the Bills in the limited games he played last season, which is probably a reason he hasn’t signed with any team so far this summer.
Buffalo could look at adding a receiver on the trade market, and one player they could consider is the Washington Commanders’ Terry McLaurin.
The Bills Could Add Terry McLaurin
McLaurin is seeking a new contract, and if the Commanders are willing to trade him, then Buffalo would be a good choice. According to Romell Williams from Fansided, McLaurin could end up in Buffalo.
“Reigning 2024 MVP Josh Allen is one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in football, and Buffalo needs to restock it’s WR room after parting with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis,”Williams wrote.” McLaurin’s precise route-running and toughness over the middle, along with his vertical threat would make him Allen’s go-to target in a system that finished top 5 in scoring last season. Despite lacking a true WR1, the Bills still pushed Kansas City in the AFC title game. Plugging in McLaurin gives them the vertical threat and reliability Allen has missed.”
McLaurin has been in the NFL for the last six years and has recorded 6,379 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns in 97 games.
Buffalo Needs To Go All Out This Year
If the Bills are looking to go all out, then adding McLaurin would be the best option for the team.
However, the Commanders, who are a Super Bowl contender, might not want to trade their star receiver to a team they could face in the big game next winter.
Even though the Bills and Commanders play in opposite divisions, teams that use the same players often avoid trading with each other, as they may meet later in the season.
For Buffalo, going all out this season is a must, as this could be the last time they have their whole team together.
Running back James Cook is a free agent at the season’s end, and there haven’t been many signs that the four-year running back will return to the team next year.
This could be the last year Cook runs in a Bills jersey, and giving him a receiver like McLaurin would be a great thing for him and the rest of the roster.
