Ben Shelton’s Morgan Stanley Plea Pays Off as American’s Wimbledon Run Continues

On Saturday, World No. 10 Ben Shelton cruised past Márton Fucsovics in straight sets on Court 1 to punch his ticket to the Round of 16.  For Shelton, the win builds on what has been an impressive run at SW19, with the former NCAA champion yet to drop a set.

During his on-court interview, Shelton spoke about his win, crediting his sister Emma with being his lucky charm. Unfortunately, as he explained, her work schedule would prevent her from staying in London for week two of Wimbledon 2025.

So, with the eyes of Court 1 upon him, Shelton pleaded, with no one in particular, to help his sister get more time off from her job at Morgan Stanley.

According to Shelton’s latest Instagram Story post, the plea worked:

The No. 10 seed will be back in action, with his sister in his player box, on Monday, when he faces off against Lorenzo Sonego.

Currently, Shelton leads the head-to-head 3-1, with back-to-back wins over Sonego this season at both the Australian Open, and the French Open.

Ben Shelton Highlights The Impact of Having His Family With Him at Wimbledon

In addition to having his father and his sister with him at SW19, Ben Shelton also has his mom and his girlfriend, US Footballer Trinity Rodman, with him in London.

While speaking during his post-match press conference, Shelton explained that his family is staying together in a house, and in turn, they’ve been able to enjoy the off days together.

With the tennis season practically going year-round for Shelton given his involvement in Patrick Mouratoglou’s UTS league, Shelton indicated that having his family with him in London has been a great experience:

“We’ve really enjoyed it. … It’s been great. It’s important to me. The tennis season’s long so the times where you can get people together to come travel with you or be at a tournament, especially if it’s a big tournament, it’s a lot of fun.”

Impressive Stat Shows Just How Consistent Ben Shelton Has Been at Grand Slams

With his third-round win, Ben Shelton has now advanced to the second round of 50% of the Grand Slams he’s entered in his short career.

To date, he’s never made it past a semi-final round, however, of the ten Grand Slams he’s entered, the American standout has reached the Round of 16 three times (French Open 2025, Wimbledon 2024/25), and the semi-finals twice (AO 2025, USO 2023).

During his post-match press conference, Shelton spoke about his consistency across some of the biggest stages in the sport:

“I don’t overlook that accomplishment. I know that it’s a difficult task just to play three out of five sets mentally and physically, and to have a lot of deep runs I think is pretty cool.”

As he went on to explain, his success in Grand Slam events has motivated him to figure out how he can replicate his high level of play while competing at Masters 1000 events, as well as ATP 500 and 250 events.

For now, however, Shelton’s focus is on his fourth-round meeting with Lorenzo Sonego.
