San Jose police involved in shooting; details scarce

San Jose police apparently exchanged gunfire with a suspect Sunday near Guadalupe Oak Grove Park, but police have revealed few details about the incident.

In a news release, the police department said officers responded to a “report of a family disturbance” at a home near the intersection of Recife Way and Vargas Drive. At that point, “the involved suspect was armed with what appeared to be multiple firearms and resulted in an officer-involved shooting.”

Calls to department spokespersons were not returned. Over email, an unidentified spokesperson for the department declined to provide more information.

In the news release, police said there’s no public safety threat but urged residents to avoid the area because of street closures.
