Ruben Amorim was understandably not keen on Manchester United agreeing to an access-all-areas Amazon documentary, making it clear that the idea did not have his support.
The Athletic revealed that the Red Devils have been in talks for months of last season, with Amazon willing to pay the club ‘significantly more than £10m’ to make the series.
Clearly the Manchester United hierarchy were interested as they presented the plan to Amorim, but the manager was in no doubt on where he stood on the matter.
The report states that Amorim pushed back on the level of intrusion on the first team the documentary would cause.
The Portuguese saw it as a distraction for a squad that has already been struggling and suggested if provided no benefit to his team.

In what should be encouraging for the manager, he has got his way, with Manchester United pulling the plug on the documentary, largely due to Amorim’s wishes.
The sum Amazon were willing to pay would have been the most they have ever forked out for one of their ‘All Or Nothing’ series, having also filmed them with Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs.

While the choice not to allow the documentary to be made is likely a good one for the Manchester United team, the club misses out on funds at a time when they are fairly desperate to raise money.
A disastrous last campaign sees them go into the new season without European football and the current transfer window is vital to recalibrate the squad in the hope of improvement over the coming year.
Amorim wants rid of a string of big name players, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho all available for sale.
However, Rashford, Sancho and Antony in particular are on huge wages at Old Trafford, making exits difficult to secure, even if United are willing to accept relatively low transfer fees for them.

There is interest in all the players the Red Devils are looking to axe, but progress appears slow on any deals to sell them.
Similarly, there has not been too much movement on incomings so far this summer, with only Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Paraguayan teenager Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno arriving at Old Trafford.
A move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo continues, but the Bees have already turned down two offers as they stand firm on their £70m asking price.

United are also looking for a centre-forward, but have not seemed to progress far at all on that front, with the hope of signing Viktor Gyokeres seemingly at an end as the Sporting star looks set for Arsenal instead.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has been linked, but prefers to return to Galatasaray where he spent last season on loan.
Free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also thought to be on Manchester United’s radar, but they could also miss out on him after Newcastle held talks with the England international.
Christopher Nkunku is another name touted as a possible new signing at Old Trafford, with Chelsea setting an asking price of £35m for the forward who has underwhelmed since signing from RB Leipzig in 2023.
