Insider Provides Massive Update on Jets-Sauce Gardner Contract Talks

The New York Jets gave the bag to Garrett Wilson, and it sounds like they won’t be stopping there.

“Wow. Jets give Garrett Wilson a significant extension — and I expect Sauce Gardner to follow suit very soon,” Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic said on social media.

“Now that Garrett Wilson’s deal is done, the attention shifts entirely to Sauce Gardner, another first-round pick from ‘22. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gardner gets his extension in short order,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini said on X previously Twitter.

Exclusive: Insider Shares Emphatic Jets Contract Prediction for Gardner

Jets beat reporter Nick Faria of Jets X-Factor joined me on “Boy Green Daily” on Monday, July 14. During our conversation, Faria told me that Gardner becoming the highest-paid corner in football is a foregone conclusion.

“It is a shock to me if they get him for under $30 million [per year]. It would be a stunning stunning absolute turn of events if Sauce Gardner is an under $30 million cornerback. Again, mostly because this is how negotiations go. Derek Stingley had a great year last year. He was one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, and he got paid $30 million [per year],” Faria explained to me.

“Sauce Gardner did not have the best year last year, but he was an All-Pro in his first two years. He has played three seasons and has been an All-Pro in two out of three years. That is pretty damn good. That is pretty damn historical,” Faria said. “The way that I look at it, anything less than $30 [million] and I’m going to Darren Mougey and I’m saying, ‘Well done. Well done, sir.’ This is a matter of guaranteed money, a matter of average annual salary, and to that point, very clearly, Sauce Gardner to me is going to get $30 million.”

NFL analyst Will Parkinson reiterated the same message.

“Sauce Gardner will soon be the highest-paid corner in football as well. Jets locking up their young stars. Wilson the first under [Aaron] Glenn and [Darren] Mougey. Strong deal for both the player and the team here imo,” Parkinson said on social media.
