Paddington station evacuated after fire alarm set off

Passengers at facing delays at Paddington station after a fire alarm was sounded just before 7am.

Great Western Railway said some lines are blocked this morning and trains running to and from the may be cancelled or delayed as a result.

It warned disruption is expected until the end of the day, however National Rail said that people will only see a disruption until 8am, but told passengers to keep an eye on their journey planner for further updates.

A statement from National Rail said: ‘The fire alarm is sounding at London Paddington station. As a result, the station has been evacuated.

‘Trains that run to / from / through will be disrupted and may be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

‘Disruption is expected until 08:00.’

One passenger warned that the entrance to the tubes has also been shut this morning.

James G posted on X: ‘7AM. Tuesday morning. One of london’s busy terminal stations (Paddington). Primary entrance to the tube station closed! You can’t make it up.’

Metro has contacted London Fire Brigade and the British Transport Police for comment.
