Pasadena Heritage Saturday, July 19, hosted its 29th bridge party on the historic Colorado Street Bridge.
From 6 p.m. to almost midnight, guests packed the bridge and enjoyed music, food, drink and a fleet of vintage vehicles.
The nonprofit Pasadena Heritage started in 1977 and held its first bridge party in 1978 to protect the landmark that was in danger of being demolished. Since its completion in 1913, the bridge has connected Pasadena and Los Angeles.
According to the National Park Service, the bridge remained part of Route 66 until the completion of the Arroyo Seco Parkway in 1940. A darker part of its history is the more than 100 people who have jumped to their deaths from the bridge causing added safety measures in recent years.
Music played from three stages on the bridge. Food and beverage options included Dog Haus, All India Café, Wood Fire BBQ, Cervecería del Pueblo and more.
