Bills Make Huge Announcement on First Day of Training Camp

The Buffalo Bills reported to the first day of training camp at St. John Fisher University on Tuesday, July 22.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Co. know that training camp will look a little different this year. Cameras will be following their every move as HBO features the team on “Hard Knocks” for the first time in franchise history.

“First and foremost, cannot let it become a distraction,” Allen told Fox News Digital last week.

“Got to keep the main thing, the main thing, and that’s trying to be the best we can be on the field. Making sure we’re doing everything right, and not letting the cameras distract us. I think that’s going to be a sign of a good team.”

“You want to be a star and the face of this and that and the other? Let your play take care of it. Still be yourself and let your personality out. I think [head] coach [Sean] McDermott has been doing a great job ever since I was rookie of making sure, whoever you are, be that person all the time, right? Being as authentic as possible is one of the greatest qualities that you can have, and this is no different.”

While Allen keeps his teammates locked in, the Bills kicked off training camp with an exciting announcement that left fans stunned.

The Bills are Officially Bringing Back the Red Helmet for the 2025 NFL Season

The 2025 NFL season marks the Bills’ final year before moving into the new Highmark Stadium. While the team has multiple events planned to honor their time at the old stadium, Buffalo announced the news fans have been waiting for on Tuesday: the red helmets are back!

Bills reporter Alec White wrote in a statement, “Party like it’s 1987. In an exciting nod to their rich history, the Buffalo Bills have officially announced the return of their iconic red helmets for the 2025 season.

“The Bills will wear their red helmets for the Week 18 game against the Jets to celebrate the final regular season game at Highmark Stadium, allowing fans a chance to relive the nostalgia before Buffalo opens new Highmark Stadium next year. The bold, striking red helmets feature the classic blue and white striping with white facemasks the team wore from 1987-2001.”

Bills News: Josh Allen & Co. Will Rock The ‘Standing Buffalo’ Throwback Uniforms This Season

In order to bring back the beloved red helmet, the Bills needed to get the right alternate uniform in place.

After Allen faked out fans by wearing red helmet out of the tunnel back in August 2022, WGR 550 reporter Sal Capaccio tweeted, “The league only allows an alternate helmet with either: 1. Throwback unis 2. Color rush/alternate unis.”

This season, the Bills wear the “Standing Buffalo” throwback uniforms twice. “These vintage uniforms, with the bold, red Buffalo silhouette on the helmet and classic jersey color scheme, are a nostalgic nod to the Bills’ rich history and passionate fanbase,” White wrote.

The throwback jerseys will be worn against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.
