Masters Ticket Lottery 2026: Everyone Made Same Joke After Missing Out

There’s not a more coveted ticket in professional golf and maybe all of sports than the Masters, and that’s mostly because of the scarcity and the ticket lottery.

That, paired with the dominance of social media in everyone’s lives, and suddenly, the results of Augusta National Golf Club’s prized ticket lottery become news. Or at the very least, misery loves company, and losing out on the chance to buy Masters tickets becomes a shared experience.

The Masters and Augusta National let golf fans shortly after the annual tournament in April. Fans could start submitting their applications for the lottery in late spring, and by mid-summer, the results are typically known.

How to See If You (Finally) Won the Masters Ticket Lottery

Here’s the thing, though: You can learn your fate before they formally reach out. Typically, the Masters will send winners (and losers) an email that either tells you more about how to buy tickets because you won or it just tells you that you didn’t win. But fans — or patrons, if you will — can also check by logging into their ticketing account on Masters.com and checking the status of their application.

Someone, somehow — most likely an overzealous, overly optimistic fan who relentlessly checked every day — realized the fateful decisions had been made. As that bit of information made its way around social media, everyone flocked to the site to see if they needed to clear their schedules for next April.

Most of them, however, will not have to do that, as the majority of submissions are unsuccessful. That low conversion rate didn’t’ stop folks from sharing their fate online, and a lot of people made the same joke about another failed year.

Get it? A tradition unlike any other?

Augusta National Cracking Down Even More

What adds to the mystique of Masters tickets is just how much Augusta National Golf Club does to make sure they can’t be resold on the secondary market. It’s remarkably difficult to find Masters tickets on the secondary market, and the ones that somehow get through go for thousands of dollars — even for a practice round in some cases.

If you’re lucky enough to find tickets — or in the Masters case, badges — on the secondary market, and you’re lucky enough to have that sort of money, you’re still running a risk of getting caught. If you do get caught, you’re likely going to be escorted off the property before even getting to see the luscious rolling Georgia fairways and greens. Longtime sports business reporter Darren Rovell wrote for Clict.com following the 2025 Masters that the club had increased its questioning of patrons over suspected secondary badge use.

Tickets for the 2026 Masters, the ones bought legally, did see a slight increase in price ahead of the 2026 tournament. However, they’re still among the best deal in sports. Monday and Tuesday practice rounds have a face value of $125 per ticket. Wednesday tickets, which include the Par 3 contest, will set you back $150. And single-day tournament tickets for Thursday through Sunday go for the extremely reasonable price of $160 per ticket.

The 2026 Masters is set for April 9-12 where Rory McIlroy will defend his title after completing the grand slam this spring.
