Bills’ 28-Year-Old Veteran Could Shake Up 53-Man Roster

With NFL training camps starting up all around the league this week, many teams will be facing tough roster decisions within the next month.

The Buffalo Bills will face tough choices, just like the rest of the top teams in the league, given the considerable depth.

Buffalo should have one of the best offenses in the NFL this season since they will have one of the top three quarterbacks in the league in Josh Allen.

The Bills Should Have A Good Offense This Season

Allen took the league over last year, winning his first-ever NFL Most Valuable Player of the Year Award, and now he’s looking to win a Super Bowl to go along with it.

The Bills do have some questions on offense, and some of it has to do with running back James Cook, who is not under contract for next season.

There has been speculation that Cook wants $15 million a year, and the Bills aren’t in a position to meet that request.

Paying $15 million for a running back is steep for any NFL team, let alone a team with one of the highest-paid quarterbacks.

Since Cook is asking for a lot of money, this could be the last six months Bills fans see him playing in Orchard Park.

The Bills’ offense should be fine if Cook decides to hold out at any time, but the defense could be the area that takes the team down a little.

Buffalo’s defense needed to improve, particularly in getting after the quarterback and upgrading the secondary.

The Bills added Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Joey Bosa to help out the pass rush. The team also added a familiar face this spring that many fans should recognize.

Buffalo signed cornerback Dane Jackson, who spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Bills before heading to the Carolina Panthers last season.

Buffalo Could Keep Dane Jackson

Even though Jackson is more of a depth player than a starter, Brandon Ray from Fansided thinks he will make the roster, even though he probably shouldn’t.

Dane Jackson was brought back by the Bills in free agency, but it wasn’t a shock. The Bills have a tendency to bring back familiar players that were drafted under this regime. Jackson played out his rookie contract, joined the Carolina Panthers for 2025, and is now back in Buffalo on a one-year deal,” Ray wrote. He struggled with the Bills early on and was more of a liability than anything. Maybe he will get the nod over someone like Dorian Strong, but the Bills are better off giving Strong a chance as he has a longer future in Buffalo than Jackson does.”

Jackson is a 28-year-old and could be a good option to play on the Bills’ special teams this season and even fill in on defense if he is needed.

It will be interesting to see if Jackson makes the 53-man roster this summer, and if he does, he could be a key piece that helps the team reach its first Super Bowl since the 1990s.
