Since the passing of “Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson in May, fans of the reality show have shown their concern for his widow, Miss Kay Robertson. The family matriarch has always been considered the heart and soul of “Duck Dynasty” and has been having a difficult time after Phil’s death.
On July 24, her son, Willie, admitted that Miss Kay had surgery recently. Despite that, he claims she’s doing better than ever.
Miss Kay Had Minor Surgery
While talking to Parade, Willie confirmed that 77-year-old Miss Kay “had some physical problems [but is] doing great. She had a little surgery yesterday [July 23], and sheâs blowing my mind how well sheâs doing. Sheâs still spicy and is funny as ever. Itâs been fun trying to help her along as she goes through the process. Sheâs doing great.â
While “surgery” can be a scary word, Willie calmed everyone’s fears. âIt wasnât major surgery,” he said. “It was with her gallbladder, thatâs what it involved, issues from that. But I was shocked at how quickly she [recovered]. She got me. I said [to her], âI think you were just faking,â because she was doing so good. And the doctor said he was really expecting her to bounce back quickly from it.â
He and his wife, Korie, “spent a lot of time with her there [at the hospital]. Sheâs already back home and doing great. Wherever sheâs at, weâll be!â
Miss Kay Recently Appeared on the Family’s Podcast
Miss Kay has appeared on the first couple of episodes of “Duck Dynasty: Revival,” but she didn’t look too thrilled to be there. This only served to heighten concerns about her health among fans. On July 8, Miss Kay appeared on the “Duck Call Room” podcast to clear up all rumors. “I’m not dead,” she declared. But she also wanted to make it clear that she has no interest in appearing on the new show.
“Mom has told Willie in no uncertain terms that she is retired,” John-David said. “She’s not dead, but she’s retired, isn’t that right, Ma?”
“Yeah, but he honestly can’t hear,” she replied. When John-David claimed that Willie is trying to “squeeze every last bit of work out of you,” Miss Kay agreed.
“Yeah, before I die, that’s exactly what he’s [doing],” she said.
Despite her lack of interest in appearing on the new show, she does smile when Martin tells her that she’s his and his son, Carson’s, favorite part.
“When we saw you in the neighborhood the other day, he said, ‘Hey Miss Kay! Stop the car, Dad!’” Martin told her.
While the entire Robertson clan has had a difficult time since Phil died, Miss Kay lost her partner of 60 years. Luckily, she has a huge family that is looking out for her and doing what they can to lift her spirits.
