The NFL world was shocked on Friday when Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons asked to be traded. It was always possible that Parsons could seek a trade since his contract talks with the Cowboys haven’t progressed.
Micah Parsons Wants Out Of Dallas
Dallas now needs to either extend the four-time Pro Bowler or trade him. A few months ago, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett requested a trade. Unlike Parsons’ request, Garrett’s was due to the Browns coming off a 3-14 season. The 29-year-old pass rusher saw no future winning games in Cleveland and wanted to play for a contender.
Garrett made it known on many sports talk shows on the Super Bowl radio road that he wanted out. The only issue was that the Browns had no plans of trading him. Cleveland stood put and didn’t give in to Garrett’s trade request. Instead, the All-Pro pass rusher agreed to a long-term deal.
It’s hard for star players like Parsons to be traded since they have no leverage. If the Cowboys want, they can franchise tag Parsons for the next couple of seasons, ensuring he won’t leave if Dallas doesn’t want to move him.
If the Cowboys change their mind and want to move their star pass rusher, then a handful of teams will be calling for him. One of those teams should be the Buffalo Bills.
If the Bills can add Parsons, then they will reach their first Super Bowl since the 1990s. It will cost the Bills a handful of draft picks to trade for him, and Garrett Kerman from ClutchPoints suggested a trade proposal Buffalo could send.
Bills Trade Proposal For Parsons
“The Bills’ best offer will reflect the magnitude of acquiring such a player, focusing solely on draft capital given the Cowboys’ cap situation and forward-looking philosophy,” Kerman wrote.
Bills Receive:
- Edge/LB Micah Parsons
Cowboys Receive:
- 2026 1st-round pick
- 2027 1st-round pick
- 2026 3rd-round pick
- 2027 4th-round pick
“This offer reflects both Parsons’ status as one of the most dominant defenders in the NFL and the escalating price of pass-rush talent. He is younger and more productive than Khalil Mack was at the time of his blockbuster trade, with every sign pointing to even greater heights ahead,” Kerman added.
Giving up two first picks is probably what will start the conversation for the Cowboys. There is no way Dallas will trade him for anything other than two first picks.
One good thing for the Bills is their first-round picks will be between 25 and 32, so they wouldn’t have to give up a high pick. The bad news for Buffalo is that, since they are such a good team, Dallas might not want to trade with them. If worse teams are offering first-round picks for Parsons, then it would be wise for the Cowboys to accept their offer.
If Dallas is trading Parsons, then that means they aren’t going to be good this season and will need several high draft picks to rebuild. Those high draft picks are something the Bills can’t give unless something goes wrong for Buffalo.
