Nick Hogan Moved to Tears as WWE Honors Late Father Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam

Nick Hogan had an emotional moment at WWE SummerSlam on Saturday, Aug. 2, as the wrestling world paid tribute to his late father, Hulk Hogan.

The 35-year-old son of the wrestling icon was seen getting choked up in the crowd at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey while standing beside his wife, Tana Lea.

Together, they watched a powerful video tribute that honored Hulk’s decades-long legacy.

WWE Remembers a Wrestling Legend

As the tribute aired, WWE announcer Michael Cole reflected on Hulk Hogan’s immense impact on the industry.

“Hulk Hogan was larger than life, sports entertainment personified [and] the greatest performer in our history,” Cole said. “He was undefeated [at SummerSlam] … just so many great moments, too many to talk about really in the career of a man who carried professional wrestling on his back for three decades. Rest in peace, brother.”

As Hulk’s signature entrance theme “Real American” played, Nick clapped through tears, placing his hand on his chest and making a prayer gesture while the stadium erupted in cheers.

Nick’s Public Tributes to His Father

Nick, who shared a close bond with his father, also attended WWE’s Monday Night RAW on July 28. There, he joined the wrestling roster on stage as another tribute was held for Hulk, who died of a heart attack at age 71 on July 24.

Standing center stage with his wife by his side, Nick wiped away tears while fans and wrestlers honored the man born Terry Bollea. Hulk shared two children, Nick and Brooke, 37, with ex-wife Linda Hogan.

Florida Declares August 1 “Hulk Hogan Day”

Just one day before SummerSlam, the state of Florida formally honored Hulk Hogan’s legacy by declaring August 1 “Hulk Hogan Day.”

Nick marked the occasion on Instagram, writing: “Tomorrow, Aug. 1, is officially ‘Hulk Hogan Day’ in the state of Florida. My dad was a true Floridian and loved his home state. Thank you for this honor, @flgovrondesantis. He would be so proud of this.”

He included a photo of the official proclamation issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis, celebrating his father’s contributions to pop culture, sports, and the Sunshine State.

Nick Hogan’s Heartfelt Message For Dad Hulk

Nick Hogan began his tribute by expressing his gratitude to fans, writing:

“I’m sorry to everyone I have not responded to yet. This has been overwhelming and extremely difficult,” he wrote. “Hearing so many kind words and stories about my dad’s life, interactions, and experiences with everyone has been incredible and comforting.”

He then described the deep love and admiration he held for his father: Nick Hogan called his father “the most incredible person” he’d known, adding that he would “always be my hero.”

In the next part of his message, he reflected on their relationship:

“He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody could ask for,” he added. “I feel so blessed to have had the greatest dad in the world. He was not only the best dad but also my mentor and my best friend. He always has been my best friend and I love him and miss him more than I could ever explain.”
