History was made in the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame. A legendary Green Bay Packers wide receiver took the stage for his enshrinement. The 1988 No. 7 overall pick made quite the impact in the NFL even though he only played from 1988-94.
Alongside his brother, the two made history as the first brothers to both be in the Hall of Fame. It’s a moment the Georgia native will never forget as he delivered an impassioned speech at the ceremony.
Sterling Sharpe Gets Emotional at HOF as he Calls Shannon Sharpe to the Stage
The tight end and wide receiver duo will forever go down in history. No pair of brothers has ever done what they have, with there being slim chances of it happening again in the near future. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is no joke, as both Sharpe brothers earned their way into the illustrious club.
Green Bay’s three-time NFL receptions leader took the stage to proclaim, “The only reason I’m standing here, everything I did for an audience of one. I didn’t care what was written, said, thought, talked about, prayed about, everything I did was for an audience of one.”
Sharpe kept going back to the quote, “You have to learn to follow before you can lead.” Even though his brother, Shannon, entered the Hall of Fame in 2011, Sterling is the older brother. Sterling, 60, received his moment 14 years later than Shannon, 57, did.
“Everything athletically, I did for an audience of one.”

“It’s so amazing to experience love and appreciation from my family, but ladies and gentleman, this is why I played football. It was because of this right here,” Sharpe proclaimed as his brother joined him on the podium.
The five-time Pro-Bowler recalled a quote from his brother where he said he was the second best player in his family. Sharpe didn’t hesitate to say he agreed with that statement, which got a large chuckle out of the crowd.
His speech came to a close with a shocking moment as Sterling gave his brother his gold jacket. He stated that he wanted Shannon to be the only player in the HOF to have two gold jackets.
The Legacy of Sterling Sharpe in Green Bay
Packers fans aren’t surprised with Sharpe’s HOF induction. He’s been a member of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame since 2002. It may have taken 23 years for him to hear his name called, but it was undoubtedly worth it.
Sharpe was able to share a moment on the stage with his brother that no one has yet to experience. With 65 receiving touchdowns in his career, Sharpe’s legacy in Green Bay will live forever. The two-time NFL receiving touchdown leader accomplished more than he could have ever imagined, with this being the cherry on top.
Additionally, his No. 2 is retired at South Carolina. The former Gamecocks receiver turned his college career into three First-team All-Pro seasons in the NFL. 1992 will go down as a career year for the 6’0” 207-pound receiver. In his fifth year in the league, he was named First-team All-Pro, Pro Bowl, and won the Triple Crown.
