How Will the Final Episodes of ‘And Just Like That’ End?

“And Just Like That,” it’s over. Sarah Jessica Parker announced on Instagram last week that the series is coming to a close, leaving millions of Carrie Bradshaw fans feeling like they were punched in the gut. Twenty-seven years is an incredibly long run for any character, and this time around, you get the feeling that this is it. No more “Sex and the City” films after a few years, and no new way to reinvent the franchise wheel.

There are two episodes left of AJLT, and it is time to think about how we would like to see these characters wrapped up.

Seema

Warner Bros. Discovery
Sarita Choudhury

We barely had a chance to get to know Seema, and yet she still somehow seemed to belong at the brunch table with Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte. She was one of the new characters in “And Just Like That” who stuck with viewers. A businesswoman who is sick of being stuck under the thumb of her boss. She broke out on her own and started her realty firm, while also beginning a new romance with an unexpected twist.

Seema has broken away from the business type and is now dating Adam, Carrie’s landscaper. He is quirky, sentimental, and rooted in kindness. These two really work, and hopefully, we will see more of their new romance in the final episodes.

Lisa

Warner Bros. Discovery
Nicole Ari Parker

Fans of the series have watched Lisa Todd Wexley spiral between work, her children, and her hopeful politician husband. She is so busy that she was the last person to find out that her father had passed away. Lisa is always on overload, with 80% of her focus being on her work as a documentarian. It would be cool in the two final episodes if something just made her stop.

The character needs to come to a complete halt, breathe, then pick herself up and begin again. She is the stereotypical super busy mom who truly can’t juggle it all but somehow has to anyway. Lisa needs to have a moment to herself to take care of herself.

Charlotte

Warner Bros. Discovery
Kristin Davis

Thankfully, Season 3 of AJLT gave us comedic moments amidst Charlotte’s struggles with Harry’s cancer. She is always everyone else’s support system, from the girls to her kids; Charlotte is everyone’s rock. When Harry asked her to keep his cancer a secret, she did so, much to the detriment of her own need for support, and now that emotional baggage is starting to catch up with her.

Harry is on the mend, and we have seen Charlotte reach out for emotional help. She is also still working at the gallery, but it’s time for Charlotte to figure out what would make her happy. After being weighed down by responsibility and fear, it would be nice to see some of her optimistic sparkle return as the series wraps up.

Miranda

Warner Bros. Discovery
Niall Cunnungham, Cynthia Nixon, David, Eigenberg

Miranda has had a rough couple of years. Her decades-old marriage to Steve crashed and burned, and then she seemed to have a midlife crisis of sorts, which she has rebounded nicely from. Hey, it happens. She is currently seeing Joy, who appears to be nice and stable, breathing a bit of new life into Miranda. She has also gotten to a place where she and Steve can sit down and enjoy dinner with their son, Brady.

It has been nice to see them navigate a different family dynamic, at least until Brady shared that he had gotten a one-night stand pregnant. This throws his school plans into a bit of chaos, but Brady seems ready to deal with it all, even if his parents aren’t so sure. Hopefully, the final episodes will give us more of Miranda with her family, figuring things out. It’s priceless to see her and Steve together again in any capacity.

Samantha

Warner Bros. Discovery
Kim Cattrall

Okay, so this series didn’t give us more than a moment of Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones, but how do you not include her? She still appears to be living her very best life in London, and there is always hope that she may connect with Carrie in one of the final episodes.

Carrie

Warner Bros. Discovery
Sarah Jessica Parker

Then there is Carrie, who has done a lot of living right before our eyes in “And Just Like That.” First, she came home to find Big dead in her bathroom, and spent most of Season 1 grieving her husband. We then saw her reconnect with Aidan and sell her beloved apartment because he wouldn’t set foot in it. She then bought a beautiful Gramercy Park townhouse to begin a life with Aidan and his boys. Instead of moving in, he asked her to wait for him for five years. That was never going to happen, and now Carrie is alone in this big, beautiful house with her cat named Shoe.

Through it all, Carrie has been writing. She has seven books on the NYT Best Seller List, and is working on a new novel. She has a British downstairs neighbor named Duncan who is also a writer. As Carrie’s life with Aidan fell apart, she began working with Duncan as a writing partner in the evenings. He is the first man to have seen and accepted her mind, before anything else and it has led to a different kind of intimacy.

Warner Bros. Discovery
Jonathan Cake and Sarah Jessica Parker

We need more of Carrie and Duncan in the final episodes because he is so clearly her future. Her huge home is no longer where she belongs because it was part of the dream that she built with Aidan. There is a whole different kind of life with Duncan waiting for her, maybe part-time in London (the same city where Samantha now lives). Before we can let go of Carrie Bradshaw, probably for good, we need to see what the life ahead of her looks like when placed in the hands of Duncan.
